THE OKIE KARAOKE CONTEST!

Singing sensations abound in Oklahoma, so what better place to hold the “Okie Karaoke Star” contest than at the Oklahoma State Fair! Clear Channel wants to find one true Okie Karaoke Star among some real quality talent. Each day of the fair, station personalities will broadcast all day to encourage listeners to come to the Fair to compete for their chance to be the next Okie Karaoke Star. Stay tuned for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes… Sign up begins at 6:00 p.m., contest starts at 7:00 p.m. Must be 18 years of age or older to participate. Okie Karaoke Finals start at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27th. Bring your best pipes or come cheer on a friend!

The Oklahoma frontier comes alive in this fun and entertaining historical attraction. As you pass through the rugged entrances and split rail fencing, take a step back in time to Oklahoma’s extraordinary past featuring Wild West antics, Indian dancers, native wildlife and much more. Through the creative combination of entertainers, demonstrators and exhibitors, it promises to provide an “experience” that fairgoers will never forget. SHENANIGUNS!

The Wild West goes whack-o when Sheriff Hoppalong Casually and Deputy Leon Jones strap on big iron and face off against dimwit desperadoes Bad Bob and bumbling baby brother Bubba Bob. This quartet of cut-up cowboys fires off a laugh-a-minute load of funny one-liners, silly sight gags and crack-up cornball comedy. The comic cowboys of “SHENANIGUNS!” are professional comedy entertainers performing original, family-friendly and truly funny comedy shows for laughing audiences across the USA.

SOUTHBOUND MULE **New!

The 2009 Oklahoma State Fair welcomes a new musical act for the Centennial Frontier Experience. Southbound Mule has been brightening the lives of Bluegrass fans in the southwest for the past four years with their high-energy performances, tight harmonies and instrumental virtuosity.

Playing an enjoyable mix of old favorites and new standards - everything from traditional Bill Monroe to modern Vince Gill, plus a sprinkling of the unexpected, Southbound Mule will put a smile on your face and a tap in your foot. The five members – TJ Wesnidge, Doug Stafford, Darrel Carender, Verlon Stidham and Joe Peach – bring over a century of collective Bluegrass experience to the stage. So strap on your ‘mule ears’ and enjoy some of the best Bluegrass this side of the Red River!

THE SALTFORK CRAFTSMEN ARTISTS-BLACKSMITHS **New!

New for 2009, this group of Artisan Blacksmiths will enlighten Fairgoers about the art and skill of blacksmithing. Although earlier day Blacksmiths forged items out of necessity, today's blacksmiths are using those same skills to make everything from tools and decorative pieces to jewelry.

Mr. Abrahamson is a unique craftsman and the Oklahoma State Fair welcomes his talents for 2009.  He will show you how wooden bowl turning is done on a human powered spring pole lathe, a lost art dating back thousands of years.

Oklahoma is home to numerous Indian tribes.  What better way to honor the tradition than through dance?  Under the direction of Laura Bushyhead, the color and pageantry of Native America lives on in the daily performances by some of Oklahoma's best dancers.

MOOMANIA

Ventriloquist Rob Lemaster, as Farmer Earl, shows you the funny side of farming. His cast of characters, Myrtle, an "udderly" ridiculous dairy cow, Charlie, the crazy chicken, Daryl, the zany farm hand and Milton, the talking milk carton, is outstanding in their field. Both children and adults will have a good time, because this comedy show is agriculturally correct!

So grab Fair food and a beverage, arrive early, and claim your seat, because these personable animals show off all their antics at just three shows a day.

Should you miss one of the shows, don’t fret, because Sea Lion Splash’s two giant, 9,300 gallon pools allow you to view the animals frolicking together until at least dusk.
