Visit the Oklahoma Expo Hall and open the doors to State Fair Station where you’ll experience all things that make our state unique! This newly-themed exhibit hall is like no other – visitors will feel as though they have entered a modern-day transit depot where THE CONNECTION! runs on three distinctly colored “lines.” Featuring seven unique focal points, riders will enjoy such stops as Vineyard Marketplace, AGtropolis, MIO Trading Post, The Business District, Resource Square, Recreation Station and Backyard & Beyond! No matter what your interests, you’ll find all local vendors ranging from the wine industry to aerospace technology and our rich agricultural history to home-grown businesses. STATION PLATFORMS

Located on THE CONNECTION! blue and green lines, the Station Platforms will be host to a multitude of activities. Whether educational, entertaining or just plain intriguing, all Station Platform performances will be live and interactive. Scheduled presentations might include: a mini “Fashion on a Budget” crash course; a “hands-on” learning seminar featuring baby animals of various species; short musical performances from a variety of genres and instruments; a “living history” performance by Will Rogers; and brief informational “how-to" workshops ranging in subject from safety issues to energy conservation. And remember, it’s on THE CONNECTION!, so all presentations are offered by fellow Oklahomans.

Daily schedules will be available via our Web site and also posted on system maps at informational kiosks located in State Fair Station.

Log Cabin HandSpinning Guild is a newly formed local guild that will be demonstrating the craft of wool spinning and/or handweaving daily. Would you like to learn more about this group and craft? Honey Bee Haven is presented by the Oklahoma State Beekeepers Association (O.S.B.A.) and hosted by several local clubs. Did you know that the human race needs honey bees to survive? Have you seen a real live honey bee hive?

Can you find and identify Queen BeeAtrice? Do even know how beekeepers get honey from the hive? Find all the answers at Honey Bee Haven and be sure to buzz over to the bleachers and catch the NEW Honeycomb Extracting Demonstration held once a day. FARMER FOR A DAY

Children will step into the world of farming through this interactive exhibit and learn about harvesting and commerce. Little ones will put on an apron, plant the crop, water the orchard, grab a basket to pick apples, gather eggs and dig up potatoes. Then it’s off to the Farmers’ Market to sell their produce and receive AGtropolis money. The final stop will be at the AGtropolis General Store to buy a special Fair souvenir or treat, should they choose to spend their recently earned income.

BARNYARD BIRTHING CENTER

The Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) and the Oklahoma State Fair_® have teamed up their resources to bring Oklahoma City this spectacular educational exhibit.

Mother Nature dictates all, but you may get lucky enough to actually see a chick hatching or the birth of a goat or pig. If not, you will surely get to see the little ones born only a day or even an hour earlier. Vet techs will be catering to our newborns and will be happy to answer your questions.

ANIMAL SURGICAL SUITE

The Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) veterinarians will perform surgeries to show the entire spaying process of a female dog. Yes, it’s an actual surgery, right before your very eyes. An additional veterinarian will be outside the building explaining everything taking place during the surgery and answer all your questions. This is truly an educational experience for the whole family.

All dogs having this procedure are provided by the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter and will be available for adoption. So be sure to contact the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter immediately and find out more about how to take one of these loving pets home.

New for 2010 local dog rescue groups will be on hand at various times to help you find the perfect pet.

OKLAHOMA ART EXHIBITION
The Oklahoma State Fair is proud to sponsor the annual Oklahoma Art Exhibition. Each year, teachers from schools across the state enter original artwork from students in grades K-12 for selection into the exhibition.

Submitted works include: painting, drawing, photography, clay work, weaving and sculpture. The selected projects, including Best of Show, Judges Choice and Superintendents’ Award, will be celebrated at the Oklahoma Art Exhibition and displayed throughout the run of the 2010 State Fair, September 16th-26th.

Don’t miss these beautiful and behemoth horses presented by Express Clydesdales.

Of a rare black and white color, the Express Clydesdales average 17-18 hands or six feet high at the shoulder and weigh over 2,000 pounds each. Their hooves are the size of dinner plates and their shoes weigh over three pounds each.

Get up close and personal with these gentle heavyweights each day during the Fair. You’ll be amazed at the grace of something so large.

CANADIAN RIVERS OLD IRON CLUB ANTIQUE TRACTOR DISPLAY AND PARADE

See these amazingly preserved beauties on Wichita Walk between the Oklahoma Expo Hall and the Cox Pavilion.

They may be antiques, but they still have spark and their engines will fire up on Wednesday, September 22, at Noon, for the Senior Day Parade. They are the main event, so you don’t want to miss the action as they cruise around Fair Park.

SPIRIT OF OKLAHOMA PLAZA – A CENTURY OF MEMORIES

Starting in 2002, this six year progressive historical exhibit about Oklahoma and the Oklahoma State Fair grew steadily by honoring two decades each year through music, sculptures and displays. 

2007 marked Oklahoma’s Centennial, and the final sculpture, the state of Oklahoma, was placed at the end of this incredible educational exhibit. 

In celebration of 2010, we’re continuing Spirit of Oklahoma Trivia, A Snapshot Trough Time! Here’s your chance to get free admission and parking passes to the 2011 Fair! All you have to do is ring the bell, walk through the great state of Oklahoma sculpture, answer a few trivia questions and drop your answers for your chance to win. Ten lucky winners will be drawn from correct entries! The answers are among the arches.
 
So look up, make your way to the Fair’s big arch and then stroll through the mini arches to relive the history of Oklahoma and the Great State of a Fair.

The Miss Oklahoma State Fair Scholarship Pageant continues its tradition of assisting young women with their educational needs. This year, will celebrate the 10th year as an official, local, preliminary pageant to the Miss America Pageant. We are honored that half of our Miss Oklahoma State Fair winners have gone on to become Miss Oklahoma and compete in the Miss America competition with success. In fact, Lauren Nelson, Miss America 2007, was our very own Miss Oklahoma State Fair 2005!

OKLAHOMA STATE FAIR 2010 OPENING & CLOSING CEREMONIES

Win Oklahoma State Fair Season and Parking Passes during the Opening Ceremony!

2010 marks the 104th Oklahoma State Fair. Join us at the Opening Ceremonies on Thursday, September 16 at 5:00 p.m. at the State Fair flag pole located on the East side of the circle at 14 Flags Plaza.

Four sets of Season and Parking Passes will be given away during the opening ceremonies , , , and all you have to do is just show up! Starting 30 minutes before the ceremonies begin at 5:00 p.m., get a ticket and put it in the hopper. You must be present to win. The newly crowned Miss Oklahoma State Fair and Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen will be on hand to draw the winning ticket.

Colors will be presented by the Capitol Hill High School Naval Junior ROTC. This outstanding group of young men and women, now led by Petty Officer William C. Phillips, have been part these ceremonies for several years, and the Oklahoma State Fair welcomes them back for 2010.

The National Anthem will be sung by Ms. Karlee Wright and signed by the beautiful 2010 Indian Princesses.

Ms. Karlee Wright is the youngest winner to win the OK City Star contest hosted by the OKCity Chorus of Sweet Adelines.  She performs annually for the Cystic Fibrosis fund raising Gala.  Karlee has performed the National and Canadian Anthems for the OKC Thunder and Red Hawks.  Karlee will be a junior at Edmond North.

CLOSING CEREMONIES
Help us celebrate the successes of the 2010 Fair while the Capitol Hill High School Naval Junior ROTC lowers the colors and the Indian Princesses and Karlee Wright perform some beautiful songs.

Closing ceremonies will commence on Sunday, September 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the State Fair flag pole located on the East side of the circle at 14 Flags Plaza. But that doesn’t mean that the Fair is closed. After the ceremonies, stick around and plan to enjoy all the Fair has to offer late into the evening. Board another ride, grab just one more corndog or cinnamon roll, toss a few more rings on the bottle, visit your favorite exhibitor, and don’t forget to catch that final band on the Bandshell stage or final free show.

The Flag has been lowered, but your final Fair evening has just begun.

This event celebrates Mexican Independence Day and will also mark the beginning of the Oklahoma State Fair, which starts on September 16th. This spectacular event will be headlined by an internationally known Mexican artist and Mariachi, Orgullo de América, Oklahoma’s premier mariachi. Come join in the opportunity for all Oklahomans to celebrate the richness of Mexican culture and heritage with acts ranging from singers and bands to dance groups with kids and adults alike. And, don’t forget that September 16 is Dollar Day, so everyone gets in for just $1 all day long. A good time is guaranteed!

34th ANNUAL SENIOR CITIZENS’ DAY
"Sailing Through Senior Citizens' Day”

Pack your walking shoes, wheelchair or scooter and get on board because we set sail to the 34th Annual Oklahoma State Fair Senior Citizens' Day on September 22. The ship’s volunteer crew has been working hard all year to bring you an exciting itinerary of speakers, entertainers, health screenings and activities. So hoist your sails and cruise to the 2010 Oklahoma State Fair where fun awaits on every deck.

On Wednesday, September 22, all Seniors Citizens 55 and over will be admitted to the Fair FREE on this day.

6th ANNUAL DEAF AWARENESS DAY

If you are deaf or hard of hearing, special activities abound for you on Thursday, September 23! At designated times throughout the day, many Fair attractions and entertainment will be interpreted. These shows will be highlighted in red in the Oklahoma State Fair_®. Visitor’s Guide.

Between the shows, make your way to the Carriage Hall building where you can enjoy entertainment by deaf and hard of hearing performers! There will be several deaf organizations and deaf vendors offering valuable information, resources, networking opportunities and products. 3rd ANNUAL OKLAHOMA STATE FAIR ARMWRESTLING CLASSIC

Muscle bound and ready for the take down? Prove yourself on Sunday, September 26 at the Bandshell Stage where both men and women can register the day of the event to enter this FREE strong-arm competition. There will be two afternoon preliminary rounds with the finals commencing at 6:00 p.m. Here’s your chance to be this year’s Fair Champion, take home a trophy, bragging rights and represent the Oklahoma State Fair_® in the National finals in Arizona.

All competitors who win a match in their weight class will earn a national ranking and be posted on ARMWRESTLING USA’s website. There will be competition in 7 divisions: 5 men’s and 2 women’s by special designated weight classes.

RELIGIOUS SERVICES

Be inspired! Be instructed! Be entertained! The 2010 Oklahoma State Fair is proud to offer two different opportunities to reflect on the word of God offered by dedicated Christian horsemen! On Sunday, September 19 and again, Sunday, September 26, Cowboy Church will be offered in the Capital City Theatre in Barn 3, starting at 9:30 a.m. Sunday services will include the uplifting and entertaining songs of Cowboy Minister Steve Womack. All are welcome to come partake of the serenity and learning that the presentation of these devoted Christ followers will offer.
